GEO: making your company show up in the AI answer
A new customer mentions asking ChatGPT before calling, and your company’s name came up. Months later, another one tells the same story, with your competitor’s name.
Nobody on your team can say what changed between one answer and the other. GEO exists to shine a light on that blind spot.
First, which GEO
In marketing, those three letters had a job long before AI. Geo means geography: geotargeting, geofencing, a location page for every city you serve. The GEO on this page is a different thing. It stands for Generative Engine Optimization, the work of getting a company into AI-written answers.
So this page spells the term out instead of leaning on the acronym. An acronym that names two entities splits the signal between them. The machine cannot tell which one you mean. It is the same fix we make for clients, applied to our own service.
We hold every acronym to that standard, and not every one passes. AEO never appears alone in our writing. The same letters also name the Authorized Economic Operator, a customs program. There the confusion runs deeper, so we spell out answer engine optimization. The acronym stays as a variant inside the text.
What changes when the answer arrives fully formed
In traditional search, the person searching gets a list and picks where to click. In a generated answer, the machine picks for them. It cites the sources it used to build the text.
The commercial consequence is direct. One stage of your customer’s decision happens before they ever reach your site. At that stage, you have no visit to count. The SEO for AI section takes that mechanism apart from the inside. This page is about what we do with it.
What the service does
Measures what is already being said. Before touching anything, we map what the models say about your market today. We record whom they cite and where you appear. Every reading carries a date, because a model’s answer changes on its own.
Puts the entity in order. Name, attributes, address, partners, what the company does, and where each is confirmed outside your domain. The Entity SEO section covers this, and it is the part almost nobody does.
Makes the text retrievable. A direct answer at the top of the passage. A paragraph that stands on its own, with the subject named inside it. A model retrieves slices of a page, and each slice must make sense alone.
Builds corroboration. Mentions and citations in sources you do not own, since a statement about yourself confirms nothing. It is the slowest work in the set. It also does the most to separate who shows up from who does not.
Measures again. Same question, same method, new window, and the two readings compared side by side.
What you can measure today
The most repeated line about AI is that you cannot measure it. You can, and every tool comes with the caveat of whoever owns the data.
Bing’s AI Performance report counts how often your site appeared as a source in generated answers. Microsoft’s three caveats are quoted in the article. Your Analytics separates traffic that arrives from AI assistants. Search Console counts impressions inside Google’s AI experiences.
None of the three measures everything. Used together over the same window, they give you an honest baseline for later.
What we do not promise
Guaranteed citation does not exist. The model decides what goes into the answer. It changes without notice, and nobody outside controls it. For the same reason, we do not give deadlines either.
What we do promise is the work that raises the probability. Then comes the measurement that shows whether it moved, with a caveat on every number.
Who this service makes sense for
It fits companies whose buyers research before talking to a salesperson. It also fits markets where people already ask AI which company to choose.
Your customer may still choose by a neighbor’s tip and by the map. In that case, local SEO does more for you, and sooner. If you cannot tell which case is yours, start with SEO consulting. It begins with exactly that answer.
How it starts
It starts with a WhatsApp message to the commercial team, led by Polly. The channels are on the contact page.
The first thing we deliver is not a proposal. It is a reading of what AI already says about your market. That reading tends to change where the conversation goes.
Frequently asked questions
Does GEO replace SEO?
What changes is the format of the answer and the way you measure it. The foundation is still a confirmed entity, and content that answers the real question.
Are GEO, AEO, and LLMO different things?
They are different names for a field still taking shape. Each one is searched by its own audience. The mechanism underneath is shared. The SEO for AI section treats all three by the same standard.
Can I show up in AI answers without touching my site?
Partly, because outside corroboration carries a lot of weight. But your site is where your entity lives. A weak entity at home limits everything built outside it.
Do you guarantee my company will be cited?
No, and that is the honest answer. What exists is a measured baseline, work in the right order, and remeasurement in the same window. That lets you see whether the probability went up.
