Entity SEO: your company exists in the public registry. Does it exist in Google's catalog?

by Daniel Sócrates published

Your company has an EIN, an address, and customers. It can still fail to exist for Google.

This is not about ranking badly. It is about something earlier: the machine not knowing your company is a thing, with a name, attributes, and a history.

What Entity SEO is

Google keeps a catalog of things in the world: people, companies, places, concepts. When your company enters that catalog, it stops being a handful of words repeated across pages. It becomes a record with confirmed attributes. 1

Think of the registry. Before the filing, you have a pile of papers that mention a property. After the filing, there is THE property, with an owner, a title number, and a history. Entity SEO is the work of filing your company in the machine’s registry. This is called entity building. 2

The foundation is published as a book: “AI Search Optimization”, by our founding partner Daniel Sócrates. The work’s home is the book’s site, written in Portuguese, and the full doctrine lives there. This section is the other half: what that doctrine does for a company, in practice. 3

The five fronts of the work

Each front has its own page in this section. Together they are the house’s entity ops service.

The official home. Every entity needs one canonical address on the internet, the address every profile points to. The book gives it a full chapter, and our about page practices it: each partner has a declared home. 4

Corroboration. The machine does not believe what you say about yourself. It calculates trust from what others say about you, and not every mention counts as proof. 5 A press release syndicated to fifty sites is your own voice on a different phone. Real coverage, with a reporter and an angle of its own, is a reference.

The knowledge panel. The panel that shows up on a search for your name is a consequence of the catalog, not a form you fill in. That page explains what can be worked on and what nobody can promise.

Wikidata and notability. There is a right moment to propose the entity in public databases, and proposing too early burns the second attempt. Judgment, not haste.

And fragmentation. Companies with several domains, a name spelled two ways, and profiles scattered around split their own force. Gathering the pieces is often the first job.

Where this comes from

The practice comes from a track record that started in October 2001, crossed two decades of search, and became a book in 2026. The method that applies all of it has a name and a page: SEO Genome. 6

And one piece of transparency, which is a house rule: SEO Genome sells the service this section describes. The articles exist so you understand the mechanism and decide, with whoever you choose to execute.

Where to start

Search your company name on Google, in an incognito window. What comes back is the portrait of your entity today. Panel present or absent, profiles mixed up, namesakes.

Check the spelling of the name across every profile you own. Two spellings are two entities to the machine, and both come out weaker.

Then, the full diagnosis. It is the first phase of our consulting work, and nothing here starts without it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Entity SEO different from semantic SEO?

They are layers of the same method. Semantic means answering the intent the way the machine understands it. Entity means existing in its catalog as a confirmed thing. One without the other stays half done.

Do you guarantee a knowledge panel?

No, and be suspicious of anyone who does. The panel is the machine’s decision about a catalog nobody controls. What gets worked on are the conditions: official home, corroboration, and consistency.

Do I have to read the book to hire you?

No. The book is there for anyone who wants the full foundation, and it lives at its own home, in Portuguese. The consulting work applies the method with no homework for the client.

Notes and sources

  1. Daniel Sócrates, “AI Search Optimization”, 2026, chapter 3, “Your Company Is an Entity. Google Just Has to Find Out”.
  2. Same work, chapter 4, “The Google Registry: How Strings Become Things”. The registry image is from the book.
  3. Relation between the two domains declared by Daniel’s decision on September 1, 2026, recorded in the project state: seodeentidade.com is the home of the work and of the doctrine, published in Portuguese; seogenome.com/en/entity-seo/ is the application to companies. The content is not duplicated, and the schema declares the relation between the entities.
  4. Same work, chapter 12, “Give Your Entity an Official Home”.
  5. Same work, chapter 7, “Trust Is Not an Opinion. It Is a Calculation”.
  6. Statements by Daniel recorded in the project state: started at AgênciaClick, a Brazilian digital agency, in October 2001; book published in 2026; the SEO Genome method has its own page at /en/methodology/.
